District Changes

This year sees a big change in the organisation of Scouting In Didcot. The Districts of Abingdon and Didcot are merging to form the "Thames Ridge District". This has already started happenning, but will officially take effect from the 1st April.

All sections (Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts) will be issued with new district badges in the coming weeks, but this is probably the only change that the young people will notice.

Queen's Diamond Jubilee

queens_diamond_jubilee_badge_preview.jpg2012 is a special year for Her Majesty the Queen. Not only is she Queen of the country hosting the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, but the year also has a particular significance for her: it is 60 years since she became Queen of the Commonwealth and Patron of both The Scout Association and Girlguiding UK.

This shared badge will be issued to all sections in Scouts and Guides.

Easter Space Camp

SpaceCamp_Logo.pngThe Scouts are collectively working towards their Astronomer Activity Badge. The conclusion of this will be a camp themed on "space".

The camp will be held at Youlbury starting on the evening of the 12th to the morning of the 15th April. The camp will be for all cubs and scouts, and the beavers will join us for one of the days. Expect to see details very soon.

To go along with this Skip (the scout leader) will be writing a blog showing some of the space related activities that everyone can take part in. Watch this "space" (pun intended).

Summer Family Camp

Watch out for details of a week long family camp to be held in Summer this year. Details to follow in the next couple of weeks.
